The Iran Problem

As the world works to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, there is widespread agreement on what failure looks like: an Iranian bomb—or more likely, a number of Iranian bombs—that emboldens the Iranian government, threatens the Middle East, and prompts many of Iran’s neighbors to develop their own weapons, destabilizing the most energy-rich part of the world.

It is harder to define success. For some, success can only come when the Iranian nuclear problem is “solved.” That is, success comes when the government of Iran convincingly renounces any effort to develop nuclear weapons, opens all of its nuclear facilities to Read more…

More signs Israel may strike Iran soon

Speculation that Israel is preparing to launch a pre-emptive military strike against Iran’s defiant nuclear program was bolstered this week by a handful of incidents that suggested the Jewish state may indeed be preparing to take such action.

Early this week, Tel Aviv received its first “Iron Dome” anti-missile battery, despite the fact that the missiles being fired by Gaza-based terrorists can’t quite reach Israel’s largest metropolitan center at this time. Israeli military officials said the battery was deployed in order to test its Read more…

leaked the story.

U.S. officials believe that the Israelis have gained access to airbases in Azerbaijan. Does this bring them one step closer to a war with Iran?

It’s clear why the Israelis prize their ties to Azerbaijan — and why the Iranians are infuriated by them. The Azeri military has four abandoned, Soviet-era airfields that would potentially be available to the Israelis, as well as four airbases for their own aircraft, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies’ Military Balance 2011. Iranian Proxy a Threat to our Homeland

March 29, 2012 Leave a comment

Hundreds of terrorists could emerge from the shadows to terrorize America if Israel or the U.S. attack Iran’s nuclear sites, current and former law enforcement officials warned the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security.  The committee chairman said our government has a duty to “prepare for the worst.”

Last week committee chairman Rep. Peter King (R-NY) hosted hearings on the domestic security threat posed by the Iranian proxy terror group Hezbollah (“Party of God”).  King called the group “one of international terrorism’s most violent murder gangs.” A former FBI assistant director testified that Hezbollah is the “A Team” of terrorist organizations, and another witness said it is a greater threat to America than al-Qaeda. Western Survival Depends on Western Pride

Claude Guéant, the French interior minister, sparked a firestorm last month when he praised Western values as “superior” to the oppressive ones found elsewhere, namely the Islamic world. Yet the controversy did more to spotlight an area in which the West clearly trails its rivals: self-confidence. If a government official cannot extol the unique virtues of freedom and equality that define Western life without being cast as a bigot by the politically correct, how can they be safeguarded against the highly motivated forces of Islamism, which doubt neither the superiority of their own principles nor the righteousness of imposing them on others?
