Republicans see Obama ‘retreat’ in war on terrorism; Sen. Graham calls it ‘tone deaf’ to threats

President Obama said last week that he wants a reset on the war on terrorism, but Republicans said Sunday that his plan sounds more like a retreat.senators27_s640x427

Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, said threats to national security from the Middle East have increased. He cited the use of chemical weapons in Syria’s civil war and Iran’s push for nuclear weapons.

“At a time when we need resolve the most, we’re sounding retreat,” Mr. Graham, who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said on “Fox News Sunday.” “We show this lack of resolve, talking about the war being over. What do you think the Iranians are thinking? At the end of the day, this is the most tone-deaf president I ever could imagine.” Read more…

IN JANUARY 2010, the Qods Force—the elite unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)— decided that it and Hizballah, its primary terrorist proxy, would embark on a new 5-26-2013 2-03-16 PMcampaign of violence targeting not only Israel but U.S. and other Western targets as well. Since then, the two organizations have been cooperating but also competing to launch attacks across the globe. What is particularly striking is how amateurish the actions of both organizations have been: targets were poorly chosen and assaults carried out with gross incompetence. But as the groups brush off the cobwebs and professionalize their operations, this sloppy tradecraft could quickly be replaced by operational success. Indeed, one particularly odd effort might have succeeded were it not for the fortuitous placement of an undercover U.S. government informant: the case of an Iranian-American used-car salesman who pleaded guilty in October 2012 to conspiring with Iranian agents to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States. The New, Improved Axis of Jihad

Two years into the seismic shift that brought the forces of Islamic jihad and Sharia law to power in country after country in the Middle East and North Africa — with the astonishing and extensive Iran, Hizballah and al-Qa'eda, the new axis of Jihadassistance from the U.S. — Iran, Hizballah and al-Qa’eda apparently judge that the U.S. and its Western allies still need another nudge to ensure their complete retreat from “Muslim” lands. That nudge, according to independent, reliable and mutually-corroborating sources, has now been prepared by this Axis.

Indicators and warnings continue to grow concerning the resurgence of an “Axis of Jihad” comprised of Iran, Hizballah, and al-Qa’eda. This axis is not new: its three actors, both national and sub-national, have been working together in an operational terror alliance for over two decades. Still, so many seem unaware not just of this alliance, but of the ideological bonds that brought them together in Khartoum, Sudan, in the early 1990s and have kept them together to the current day. The bond is as old as Islam, and includes the commitment to jihad [war in the name of Islam] and Islamic Shariah law; the threat is to all free and democratic societies which stand in the way of global Islamic government and the forcible application of Islamic Shariah Law. Mr. Obama while speaking at Ohio University told students to reject those voices that warn; “tyranny is lurking just around the corner.” All I could think of was the wizard of Oz, yo

u know, the “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain” scene. Then suddenly I realized I agreed, they shouldn’t listen to those voices, they should be listening to the truth. The truth is tyranny is not around the corner it has already arrived. Allow me to show you the face of tyranny, and then explain why a revolt or revolution is impossible.

Webster’s defines tyranny as: “The government or authority of a tyrant; a country governed by absolute ruler; hence, arbitrary or despotic exercise of power; exercise of power over subjects and
others with rigor not authorized by law or justice, or not requisite for the purpose of government.”

We have a President who lied to the American people, telling them that a terrorist attack was the results of a demonstration over a YouTube video. He lied, knowing that it was a terrorist attack that resulted in the death of the American Ambassador, and three other Americans. He then proceeded to bolster his lie, by releasing a video to Arab nations apologizing for the YouTube video. Read more…

Israeli general warns air force will strike Syrian weapons facilities if nation Israeli-soldiers-in-Golan-Heights-AP1collapses.

JERUSALEM — Israel’s air force commander, Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel, said yesterday that the sudden collapse of Syria would oblige Israel to undertake a massive attack “within hours.”

Missions would include the demolition of the vast stores of conventional and unconventional weapons in Syria to prevent their falling into the hands of militants, he said.

“If Syria collapses tomorrow we could find ourselves in the thick of it — very fast and in great numbers (of planes),” he said during a security conference at the Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies in Herzliya. “There is an immense arsenal parked there, just waiting to be looted. It could spread with each gust of wind and you will find yourself having to act very fast.” Read more…

Congress Seeks More Iran Sanctions, Frustrates Diplomatic Efforts

With multilateral negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program once again at a standstill, the United States Congress has launched a renewed push to target Iranian financial institutions and cut Lindsey-Graham-Martin-Dempseytheir access to international markets.

The House of Representatives and Senate are working on own separate bills that would tighten the economic screws on Tehran for its nuclear noncompliance, a campaign that has the potential to further complicate the Obama Administration’s negotiating strategy.

On May Wednesday, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs proposed one of the toughest pieces of legislation to date on Iran’s nuclear program. The bill, if enacted, would target any foreign bank, company or individual that knowingly conducts commercial trade with an Iranian institution that is under sanctions. Countries that currently import Iranian crude oil will be mandated to decrease the amount they purchase over the next year. And the legislation would put additional sanctions on Iran’s shipping industry in an attempt to obstruct the country’s ability to ship goods.
