Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday night slammed Secretary of State John Kerry for his recent climate change remarks and accused Kerry of “butterflying around2014-02-22_0-35-54 the world.”

In an interview on Phoenix radio station KFYI’s “The Mike Broomhead Show,” McCain was asked for his reaction to the speech Kerry delivered over the weekend in which he called climate change a “weapon of mass destruction.”

“Why should he talk about climate change, when we’ve got a 130,000 people in Syria killed, and … the whole Geneva thing was a fiasco, the Iran-U.S. talks are obviously a joke, and the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations haven’t even begun,” McCain said.

President Obama and Kerry “could be hitting a trifecta,” McCain said, producing a “gross failure in all three” foreign policy issues. McCain said that instead of focusing on those crucial areas, Kerry has been “butterflying around the world, saying all kinds of things.”Kerry is currently on foreign travel to the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and France. He delivered the climate change speech in Indonesia.“So he has to go over to Asia and talk about climate change and say it’s the most important issue. Hello? On what planet does he reside?” McCain said.

On Monday, Newt Gingrich also blasted Kerry on Twitter for the climate change comments, and called for him to resign.
