After the Deal: A New Iran Strategy

May 21, 2018 Leave a comment

Secretary Mike Pompeo

In an address to the Heritage Foundation, Secretary Pompeo laid out the Trump administration’s long-awaited Plan B following President Trump’s decision May 8 to pull the U.S. out of the multilateral Iran deal. It seems like that one more time the U.S. administration, this time under President Trump, has started to flirt with the criminal mullahs in Iran and telling them that if you stay good boys outwardly then we don’t care much what you do inwardly.

The message of this 12-point plan B to Iranian mullahs is nothing more than to let them know that if they behave themselves in dealing with the citizen of earth outside the country Iran, then everything would be just fine and U.S. has no problem with how mullahs regime treats its own people inside the country. Let them continue to violate Iranians’ human rights, arrest, jail, and murder political activists, ban freedom of ideas and press, ban freedom of individual choice for living, etc.

Secretary Pompeo, what are really missing from your 12-point plan B are:

  • Establishment of democracy and implementation of Human Rights in full scale in Iran.
  • Freeing all political prisoners and liberating the activities of political groups and parties.
  • Recognize freedom of individual choice, ideas and press.

If you want Iran be released from the totalitarian religious regime by the Iranians’ hands you need to provide your support for the people of Iran. [DID]

MS JAMES: Good morning. (Applause.) Welcome to the Heritage Foundation. My name is Kay James and I have the honor of being the president here. It is a pleasure and honor to welcome our distinguished guest, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, back to Heritage. Yes, I said back. Some of you may remember that then-Congressman Pompeo spoke here on September 9th, 2015. His presence was appreciated, as his topic was timely. It was entitled “A Pathway Forward: An Alternative to the Flawed Iran Nuclear Deal.” And now we have the great pleasure of being with our friend in his new role as Secretary of State for the United States of America. It’s not just a pleasure having him here; it’s truly an honor that he chose Heritage as the site for his first public address as Secretary.

Our scholars here are dedicated to advancing individual freedom and national security, and his presence here is a wonderful affirmation of the positive impact that their work is having. And so to Secretary Pompeo, I’d like to say thank you.

Now, I imagine all who are in this room and watching online know a great deal about Secretary Pompeo, but please allow me to provide just a few highlights from his extraordinary career. Secretary Pompeo graduated first in his class at the United States military academy at West Point, and then served as a cavalry officer patrolling the Iron Curtain before the fall of the Berlin Wall. He also served with the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry in the U.S. Army’s 4th Infantry Division. After leaving active duty, he attended and graduated from Harvard Law School where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He then had a successful private sector career, founding and serving as CEO of Thayer Aerospace and then becoming president of Sentry International. Read more…

Pompeo unveils next steps on US-Iran policy

May 21, 2018 Leave a comment

Trump’s style and rhetorics leaves concern and uncertainty in the minds of public about the administration policies in general and foreign policy in particular.

  1. In his speech during announcement of nixing the JCPOA, Trump added that if the mullahs’ regime in Iran decides to come to negotiation table I am ready to negotiate with them. If this happens it would be the same mistake that Obama made.
  2. The ostentatious character of Trump, which has made him to be someone who constantly like being the center of attentions, can actually affect his role in making critical decisions. Recently with his historic mission on North Korea denuclearization on the way, he seems to be obsessed with the idea of being nominated for a potential Nobel Peace Prize. And we all know EU is just waiting to give him that in blink of an eye as they did with Obama, so that they put him in the chain of no-war no matter what! The ostentatiousness characteristic of Trump worries me a bit that when he gets to Mullahs’ regime in Iran, the glint of the Nobel Peace Prize glows within his eyes and forces him do the wrong thing, negotiate with a rogue and terrorist regime. WASHINGTON – Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is laying out the Trump administration’s strategy for constraining Iran’s nuclear program and opposing its other behavior in the region following President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.

“Today, we ask the Iranian people – is this what you want your country to be known for? The United States believes you deserve better,” Pompeo said.

“Here in the West, President Rohani and Foreign Minister Zarif are often treated differently. ‘If only they could control, things would be great.’ Yet they are your elected leaders. Are they not the most responsible for your economic struggles?” Pompeo continued.

“America’s commitment to the strategy President Trump put down last year remains, and it will now be executed outside of the JCPOA. We will insure Iran has no path to a nuclear weapon, not now, not ever,” Pompeo added. “We will apply unprecedented financial pressure on the Iranian regime. New sanctions are coming.”

The secretary of state warned that “the regime will have no doubts about our seriousness. This is just the beginning. It will be painful if the regime doesn’t change its course. It will be the strongest sanctions in history. Read more…

Obama Officials & Loyalists Torpedoed General Flynn to Protect Iran Deal

February 16, 2017 Leave a comment

Michael Flynn was appointed by Obama as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012, he then was forced into early retirement just 2 years later for being critical of the administration’s handling of the Iran deal and terrorism threats generally. On February first, Flynn as President Trump’s top national security advisor officially put Iranian regime on Notice after its missile test. Obama officials and loyalists have all along known Flynn as a serious threat and a tenacious hostile to their Iran deal, they worried he might expose the undisclosed “side deals” attendant to the deal. As a result they started orchestrating the embarrassing leaks on his ties with Russia.

When Flynn was attacked in the mainstream media for his ties to Russia, his staff was not even allowed to review the transcripts of Flynn’s conversation to the Russian ambassador. The transcripts as one White House official acknowledged asserts when Russian ambassador raised the sanctions to Flynn, he responded that the Trump team would be taking office in a few weeks and would review Russia policy and sanctions. That is neither illegal nor improper.

Flynn was not allowed by the White House to defend himself. He was instructed not to speak to the press when he was in the fight for his political life to defend himself. Flynn has been a firsthand witness to government screw-ups, smokescreens, and censored information that our leaders don’t want us to know. In short General Flynn was just thrown under the bus one more time. Right after the publication of the Washington Free Beacon report, the Mullahs’ regime in Iran warns Trump against disclosing secret Iran deal documents. What worries me in all this is whether Trump administration is going to pave the same stepping stone that has been laid out by Washington establishment, from both parties, for almost four decades in dealing with Iran! During presidential election Trump has repeatedly claimed that he will be an anti-establishment President, but we all know that actions speak louder than words. [DID]

**********************************

The abrupt resignation Monday evening of White House national security adviser Michael Flynn is the culmination of a secret, months-long campaign by former Obama administration confidantes to handicap President Donald Trump’s national security apparatus and preserve the nuclear deal with Iran, according to multiple sources in and out of the White House who described to the Washington Free Beacon a behind-the-scenes effort by these officials to plant a series of damaging stories about Flynn in the national media.

The effort, said to include former Obama administration adviser Ben Rhodes—the architect of a separate White House effort to create what he described as a pro-Iran echo chamber—included a small task force of Obama loyalists who deluged media outlets with stories aimed at eroding Flynn’s credibility, multiple sources revealed.

The operation primarily focused on discrediting Flynn, an opponent of the Iran nuclear deal, in order to handicap the Trump administration’s efforts to disclose secret details of the nuclear deal with Iran that had been long hidden by the Obama administration. Read more…

Trump’s immigration ban: 4 key questions answered

Donald Trump is the first U.S. president who is sincerely embarking on the epic of keeping America safe. He has signed an executive order banning entry of people from seven countries, namely Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia. These countries are labeled as terrorist states since their governments have been sponsoring act of terrorism across the globe. If the people of these 7 nations have any objection to an immigration law enforced by any country in the world, they should redirect their protest toward their own terrorist governments, who are the main root cause and responsible for such ban.

The order has been criticized for excluding Saudi Arabia, while wrongly claiming it was participating in 911 attack. The fact of matter is that the 911 act of terrorism was carried out by the citizens of Saudi Arabia and not its state. The immigration order was issued without any warning because it was going to ban the terrorists from entering the country, it was not planned to warn them in advance, which would result in a futile outcome. The new immigration law imposed by anti-establishment president Trump is strongly supported by the Americans who love their country and concern about the future of their next generations. [DID]

Within a day of President Donald Trump signing an executive order banning entry of people from seven countries, protests sprang up at airports across the United States. Demonstrators and activist groups called the ban unconstitutional, and administration officials scrambled to clarify who would be affected by the new rules.

We went through the order to resolve what is clear and what remains murky.

Who is affected?

The order states, “I hereby suspend entry into the United States, as immigrants and nonimmigrants, of such persons for 90 days from the date of this order.” Specifically, the order targets people from countries originally listed by the Obama administration as terrorist hotbeds — Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.
